SANTIAGO.- The head of marketing for Farmacias Ahumada (Fasa), Andrés Hidalgo, stated today that the company has put forth "its best effort" to compensate clients, but they are still aware that customers are distrusting due to the price-fixing agreement reached for medication.
"Apparently the trust or the feelings that some groups of customers might have, are decisions to be made by them and we have to face this just as we have faced the rest of the situation, with our eyes fixed on the future", the executive told Radio Cooperativa.
When questioned about the sum of the reimbursements, Hidalgo assured that the money awarded for damages "was established along with Sernac; they considered all of the products from the period of December 2007 to March 2008, the 220 products, the price before the hike was taken and the increase in the price was subtracted, producing a difference and that difference was multiplied by 220 and that was multiplied by the total number of products sold during the period, and that is how we reached the final sum".
Hidalgo also stated that "there is going to be an independent company, well-known auditors, which are going to make sure that the process is perfectly audited".

Waiting for your comments on this annoying situation that has affected everybody. What do you think? do you suggest any solution? Best regards from your teacher.
well I got affected by this, umm...few weeks ago I bought a pack condoms at a FASA Drugs Store and the price was $2.590, and other day I bought another pack in the same brand but diffent store and the price was $1.990, so I was really angry and kind of confused...
ReplyDeleteHOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE SAME PRODUCT, IN THE SAME BRAND OF DRUGSTORE, CAN HAVE THAT DIFFERENCE ON PRICES IN DIFFERENT STORES?
so I conclude that in the same brand of drugstore there are kind of differences and weird things happening.
and about of what they are doing, this thing of giving back some money to their clients it really a strange process.
what I know if that you are a registered client in the data base of FASA and you have the buy-ticket you can get all the difference of the money back, but if you dont have the buy-ticket or you aren't registered at FASA data base, you just get a discount when your purchase is over $20.000, you may get a discount of the 50%.
its kind of weird all this stuff of Drugstores, but I think the main point of this is that they got advantage over the people (specially on old-aged people and working class)

ReplyDeleteAndres Hidalgo said:the period of December 2007 to March 2008, the 220 products...
ReplyDeleteHow can be we sure about it? I think this is unreal... they are been doing it for along time.
This is not just for December 2007,this situation comes before the date they said it and they know it. THIS IS MAFIA just MAFIA!!!

In my personal outlook, there is no way to return the difference in a trustworthy manner. I was been watching news yesterday and I don't think that only some products of a certain list can be "discounted", and some others can't. I mean... if you pay for something and this pharmacy says "We are going to return some of EVERY PRODUCT you have bought", and some people have claimed the lack of information that that pharmacy had.

ReplyDeleteHello everybody:
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I have to recognise that this problem in the prices it does not affect me at all because I do not take any kind of pill or chemical things, I prefer natural medicine. Anyway I have my opinion about this. I strongly believe that this is a shame, there is no other word, because these unconscious lords of the big companies take advantage (like always) of people's needs, I mean, I know that money rules but I wonder myself: Is it necessary to fill with money your pockets in this repulsive way? Taking away what working-class people barely have?
Regards!
Hi Everyone!!
ReplyDeleteAhumada Drugstore and other two chains of drugstores raised more than 220 products and earned million of dollars, and they only want to reward with a few cents. And not only that, the affected people have to buy one of the product(s) that is in the list of 220 products, and after this a certain percentage will be discounted. In my opinion they must lower the prices of all their products during the period of time that they "say" raised the prices.
First of all, I feel so embarrassed for this company, because I cannot understand how this huge and successful business can defraud people like that, what for?, when common people are always saving up every peso of their little salaries to buy sometimes vital medicines, because there is not other way to get them, these drugstores charge down the last peso when you buy something, and they have the nerve to steal millions ones of us... merely unacceptable!. Another thing, I do not know if sometimes FASA could repair all these damages produced by this price increase, because we do not know if, during all this time, someone could not buy an "x" medicine just existing in there, because it was too expensive, and now this person is alive or not, why not?.
ReplyDeleteAnd finally, as an advice; FASA, change your motto please!, because I do not think Chilean people could trust in you again, sorry!.
I think that Ahumada drugstore and others two chains of drugstores are shameless enterprise. They have abused with the health, and more terrible also have made with sick people, because they have stolen by years to us,and now, they want to repair all dammage produced by this price increase; on the other hand, I prefer to buy my medicines in other drugstores that not belong to the chains of drugstores because the prices of this products are more considerable.

ReplyDeleteThis is an annoying situation they play with us, with our health and at the same time with our money how is it possible! The worst part is the fact that we can't do so much..
ReplyDeleteMaybe if we don’t buy in these drugstores and prefer others but what happened in the case of an specific medication? that is just in one of these chains of drugstores
They don’t have feeling they just think in how they can increase their finances.
It exists people who just need medication in specific situations like when they feel sick but on the other hand there are a lot people who depend on this kind of drugs to feel better, to regularize their symptoms This is a horrible way to get money and all this affect to elderly people and working- class like always .
the problem whit drugstores it is not new, for a long period if time these companies are being reising the products, and now they say that there are going to return the "money" to affected peopele, that is most of us, but what is the deal here, most of us doesn't have the receipt to recover that money, so the durgstore's bussiness is steal intact they are not going to lose a huge mont of incomes. what I thing is very disrespectful to chilean community.

Hello everyone:
ReplyDeleteI think that this situation is a total abuse against people, I mean there are people that need medicines and they can't left them, sometimes their lifes depend on that medicines.
Regarding the devolution of the money I think is ridiculous, I mean the way they are doing it, the amount of money that they are going to spent giving to the clients a miserable amount of "pesos" is NOTHING comparing it with the money that they already earned...

Hi !
ReplyDeleteI think this situation was very unfair for the people who is sick, and who always need to buy in these drugstores. These drugstores are going to return just part of the money, because I think this problem came up in these days, but who can tell us that these companies didn't charge high prices long time ago. They earned a lot of money charging high prices behind people's back, and now they are going to return just a little piece of this profits.
I really think this is a shame...This doesn't have name !! XD

The collusion of drugstores are a disgrace, How our government and Sernac realize only now about this big fraud. How authorities didn´t supervise them before, they have to promote a law, which control medicaments prices.
ReplyDeleteI think it is not enough to give people back the money, the owners of these drugstores have to be fine and sentence to several years in prision, because there isn´t any best effort to compensate people who need medicaments to live.

I consider that this is a terrible situation mainly, for worker class of this country.
ReplyDeletePeople who work really hard to buy their drugs and suddenly they know that these huge companies have been stolen their money during a really long period of time...
This situation is absolutely unfair for us, as citizens of this country.
The solution that MR Hidalgo proposes is absolutely ridiculous, because nobody cares about the voucher that they gave us.
How can they return our money back? of course they can not, and they don´t want to!
I think this is a sad situation, we don´t deserve pass throw this, I just hope that people realize about the importance of being informed and be careful of where and how we waste our money.
Paula.
i think this situation is a shame. i think is a kind of abuse, they are a lot of people that need buy some medecines to use everyday they depend of it and unfortunately they are people that spend all their money in medecines, is unfair. the drugstores need to repaire all the damages caused by this price increase.

Whe Should pick lots of Stones and throw them in their faces ;). It's simple, they were manipulating us as they wanted in order to become richest with our money. And also, it's unfair that they didn't have any punishment in relation a these problems 8(.
ReplyDeleteI love Chile!

I agree that this situation is a shame because patients do not have another alternative to get medicines; this is a monopoly in which are two factors in game : one is the greed without limit of this business and the second one is the health of the whole country.
